BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Shaigany is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Dermatology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra / Northwell. At Northwell she serves as Director of Cutaneous Toxicities to Chemotherapies Program and Co-director of the Inpatient Dermatology Consultative Service. Dr. Shaigany has an undergraduate degree in Theater from Northwestern University and worked as a professional actor in New York prior to switching to a career in medicine. She subsequently earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Shaigany completed her dermatology residency training at New York University. She also completed a translational research fellowship at Columbia University. Dr. Shaigany is the recipient of Rudin Foundation Grants for research involving the diagnosis of pyoderma gangrenosum and its associated comorbidities, as well as the diagnosis of cutaneous infection. She was awarded a grant from the American Skin Association for her research on melanoma. She was also awarded with a Women s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Award for her interest in complex medical dermatology. Dr. Shaigany has authored several peer-reviewed articles that have been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD), JAMA Derm, Lancet, among others. Dr. Shaigany’s subspecialty interest primarily focuses on inflammatory/autoinflammatory skin disease including topics such as pyoderma gangrenosum, cutaneous toxicities to immunotherapy/chemotherapy, severe drug rashes and cutaneous vasculitis.
