BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Donna Atherton’s professional career might best be described as eclectic. She has worked as a Real Estate Agent, Low-Income Housing, Banking, Insurance Content Specialist, Clinical Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Addiction Counselor, Executive Director, and Grief and Loss Coach. In addition, Dr. Atherton established the International Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa Network, Inc, (IAHSN) in 2012 that became a non-profit organization in 2015. IAHSN provides advocacy, awareness, education, support and wellness to individuals living with the incurable skin disease Hidradenitis Suppuratia (HS), and offers support to caregivers. Dr. Atherton graduated from Curry College with a Bachelor of Arts in Management and a concentration in Organizational Behavior, with a Minor in Psychology. She completed her Master of Social Work from Simmons University. Dr. Atherton completed a Reflective Community Fellows at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and graduated from Concordia University-Portland with a Doctorate of Education, with a specialization in Transformational Leadership. Dr. Atherton lives in Boston, MA. She enjoys reading, hiking, baking, beekeeping, mindfulness meditation, travel, and making bath and body products
