BIOGRAPHY

Rebecca Vasquez, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Originally from the Rio Grande Valley (a region spanning the border of Texas and Mexico), Dr. Vasquez earned her medical degree and completed her residency in dermatology at UT Southwestern. She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015, where she has also been serving as the Assistant Chief of Service of Dermatology at Parkland Health and Hospital System. She is the Faculty Sponsor for both the Agape Clinic (a student-run free clinic in Dallas) and Future Doctor Pathway Program (a mentorship program for high school students). She is the Director for the Health Equity Building (HEB) committee for the Department of Dermatology. Her clinical and research interests include medical education, populations that are underserved, and health disparities. She previously served as the Co-director for the AAD’s Diversity Champion Workshop (2019-2020) and is the current Chair of the Diversity Committee. Her professional honors include the Department of Dermatology’s Outstanding Teacher Award (2016, 2017, and 2020) and Parkland’s Physician of the Year (2024) . She is a member of professional organizations that include the American Academy of Dermatology, Association of Professors of Dermatology, Skin of Color Society, and Women’s Dermatologic Society.
