This session will focus on surgical tips for the dermatologists interested in pursuing pediatric dermatological surgery and reminders for the expert. It will be filled with practical and simple pearls that will enhance the surgical experience specifically geared for younger patients that have different challenges compared to adult patients. This will include pearls for in-office procedures and surgical operating room procedures including perioperative preparation, laser surgery preparation, laser safety, suture techniques in pediatric skin, pediatric nail surgery, and post-operative complications management. This one-hour session will provide high yield pearls that will strengthen the surgical experience for patients and their families.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Apply surgical suture techniques geared towards pediatric dermatologic surgery.
Evaluate the pre-operative and post operative needs of pediatric patients and their families for surgery.
Develop practical skills required prior to the use of lasers and laser safety in pediatric patients.
