DESCRIPTION

This session will review the diagnosis and treatment of hair loss in women, focusing on cicatricial alopecia. Clues for the pathological diagnosis of specific subtypes of cicatricial alopecia will be discussed. Features and treatment of early, late and cicatricial female pattern hair loss will be presented. The efficacy and safety of anti-inflammatory treatments, PRP, mesotherapy, botox, and microneedling will be discussed. Recommendations for general hair care and methods to safely camouflage the hair loss in CCCA and FFA will be presented. Speakers will share pearls from their respective hair disorder practices as well.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Use scalp biopsy information to effectively diagnosis the subtype of cicatricial alopecia
Describe the relationship and potential confusion of female pattern hair loss with other hair loss conditions and its effective medical treatment
Recognize the safety and efficacy of antiinflammatory medications, procedural treatments (PRP, mesotherapy, microneedling) and local hair care practices to help treat and manage cicatricial alopecia
