F115 Controversies in Cosmetic Dermatology: An International Experience
DESCRIPTION
Open admission to eligible categories, no tuition or ticket
The field of cosmetic dermatology consists of a number of treatments and practices that have yet to be scientifically tested and proven to have significant effects. Practitioners will state that the science, though lagging, will catch up eventually. The session will focus on commonly practiced cosmetic treatments that will be presented in a debate-style manner, where one speaker will be "for" a treatment or practice while the other will be "against". All speakers are prominent and world-renowned in their field and will bring on their international experience during the session. Speakers will present the data behind their choices and make matters clear to the audience in attendance. The audience will have the chance to participate in a poll that will showcase who presented the best argument and are able to implement such knowledge into their practice.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Develop a stronger understanding of evidence-based practice in the field of cosmetic dermatology.
Design a management plan when addressing commonly practiced cosmetic procedures.
Distinguish the differences between common practices and the scientific basis of individual treatment options.
