DESCRIPTION

Confidently assess and manage common nail problems, including brittle nails, nail cosmetics, pincer nails, pediatric nail disorders, destructive nail behaviors and retronychia. Determine appropriate medical or surgical intervention for the presenting nail disorder, and become familiar with new and emerging therapeutic interventions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Describe the pathogenesis and feel confident in the diagnosis and management of brittle nails and destructive nail behaviors. Recognize nail disorders that can be caused by nail cosmetics.
Evaluate the most common methods for nail cosmesis. Develop patient counseling strategies to educate patients regarding potential risks of cosmetic nail practices.
Describe the classic clinical presentation of pincer nails and the resulting risk factors. Compare and utilize best practices for treating pincer nails.
