Vaccination recommendations for adults and children are typically given by primary care physicians; however, there are many unique situations in which a dermatologist is the best provider to identify patients who might benefit from vaccinations. This session will address answers to vaccine questions unique to a dermatology encounter, including vaccine recommendations for adult and pediatric patients taking immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory medications. At the end of the session, attendees will feel comfortable recommending appropriate vaccines and answering patient questions regarding the safety and efficacy of vaccines, as they relate to dermatology.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Identify patients in your clinic that are candidates for vaccinations, who may not be identified by primary care
Manage patient and parent questions related to vaccination timing and efficacy in adult and pediatric patients on immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory treatments
