DESCRIPTION

Open admission to eligible categories, no tuition or ticket

This session is directed at clinicians who seek to further understand the current state and future potential of technology, including AI/AuI, in their care of patients. The area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Intelligence (AuI) is undergoing rapid development and advancement and has already begun to impact the practice of medicine and dermatologic care including the administrative aspect and burdens. Technology holds the potential to enhance access to high-quality, patient-centered, dermatologist-led care. We believe in the central role of clinicians and patients in the development of and responsible use of these data-driven tools and systems to enhance human intelligence and the care experience for clinicians, staff and patients alike.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1.

Define the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) vs. augmented intelligence (AuI) and assess knowledge, expectations, biases and fears of these tools and systems

2.

Examine the methods and concepts that underlie this technology, characteristics of high-quality AI/AuI, risks and challenges to overcome, and the importance of efficient and effective integration into practice to achieve clinical benefit

3.

Recognize use cases and examples of AI/AuI innovations that have the potential to positively impact how clinicians deliver care and evaluate AI/AuI technology and determine the fit for their practice/patients
