F012 Treating the "Outsides" of the Inpatient: Pediatric Consults for the General Dermatologist

This session is designed with general and resident dermatologists in mind, but will also be of interest to pediatric dermatology fellows and attending physicians. We aim to present a variety of challenging cases which will illustrate management of acute and severe pediatric skin disease. We will demonstrate the role of the dermatologist in diagnosing and managing these conditions as a member of a multidisciplinary care team. Areas of focus will include the following: severe medication reactions and other inflammatory conditions, infections, the immunocompromised pediatric patient and the newborn.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Evaluate cutaneous findings in children with immunosuppression or malignancy.
Diagnose skin findings in newborns suggestive of life-threatening systemic disease.
Identify and manage severe medication reactions and other life-threatening infectious and inflammatory disorders in children.
