Hosted by the Augmented Intelligence Committee, this session provides foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence (AI), identifies opportunities for dermatologist collaboration in model development and implementation, and discusses how to assess and apply AI tools in practice to augment the efficiency, effectiveness, and joy of caring for patients. Core concepts, key principles, challenges, and updates on the evidence, regulation, risk mitigation, and ethics will be discussed with an emphasis on accessible and actionable information. At the end of this symposium, clinicians will be empowered to critically analyze, implement and advocate for AI research and tools that are patient-centered and trustworthy.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Define key concepts related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies.
Describe how AI, and related technologies, are developed, how they are currently used, and the potential limitations of these applications and identify opportunities for Dermatologists to participate in the development, design, and deployment of these tools.
Assess the legal and ethical implications of AI and related technologies and the unique challenges Dermatology faces with the emergence of these applications.
